Semley CE Aided Primary School – Toilet extension

Semley

Many Primary School buildings date from the Victorian era and have been extended since this time in a piecemeal fashion often due to the way funding is allocated.  This can lead to problems with the overall layout and function of the building.  At Semley, toilet facilities were located in the older part of the School which meant children had long travel routes inside the building often through other rooms.

The solution was to provide a new toilet block located specifically to suit the infant children.  The facility has individual cubicles and a mixed hand washing area.  A number of challenges were encountered not least a very tight budget and problems with existing drainage in the ground.  The works were completed to programme and carried out mainly within term time.
