Alteration and extension to Victorian Dwelling

Devizes

2014-15

This project comprised of extensive and varied works to an elegant Victorian house in Devizes.  One of a group of houses of similar age and style, the property is a spacious home with a wealth of traditional architectural detail and character.  The works have included an extension to the rear hall, kitchen and related ancillary areas to provide a new breakfast area, utility and additional cloakroom.  A second extension has replaced a small sunroom with a larger contemporary garden room structure. Other works have included the installation of a new lift and ensuites, plus the provision of a new detached timber framed and boarded garage building.

The scheme has presented an opportunity to re-configure significant parts of the property and the result is truly a revelation to those who knew it formerly.  While great care has been taken to reflect the character and detail of the existing structure in the new work, where appropriate, the finished result also brings the accommodation fully into line with modern expectations.
