New house near Devizes

The site is in open countryside and currently occupied by a pair of semi-detached two-storey cottages of late 19^th or early 20^th century date, which are in poor condition.   The development will replace the existing dwellings with a new two-storey house of traditional design and benefitting from the incorporation of environmentally friendly materials and modern construction. The existing cottages have a total floor area of 202 sqm and 3 bedrooms apiece.  By comparison, the proposed house will have an area of 501 sqm and 6 bedrooms.  The design is traditional in character with a formal arrangement and is essentially a contemporary version of a classic country house.  The existing cottages appear out of scale relative to the extensive site.  The proposal will offer a better balance between site and built form.
