Redevelopment of former farmhouse and outbuildings

near Calne

2007-17

The buildings concerned date from the Victorian era, and now serve as a private dwelling rather than a working farm.  Albeit subject to piecemeal alteration over the years, the essential arrangement had not changed greatly, although much was unsatisfactory and in need of updating.

An extensive programme of works has been undertaken involving the wholesale re-ordering and improvement of the accommodation.  Sizeable extensions have been added, allowing the formation of much more substantial rooms within the house itself, together with a new indoor swimming pool complex and related accommodation.  The outbuildings have also been altered and improved so as to provide up to date garaging, stores and further accommodation related to the main house and set around the original farmyard.  The external spaces have also received a good deal of attention with new pavings, planting and walling, including the formation of a ha-ha adjoining the new levelled croquet lawn.

The farmhouse is located in glorious open countryside with far reaching views in all directions.  The works have produced a very fine and graceful house in this lovely setting and is a tribute to a committed and discerning client.
