Care Home, Castle Cary

Our initial contact with Client came via a Building Survey of the existing building which was empty but previously used as a Care Home for the elderly.

We submitted a Planning Application in December 2022 to demolish part of the existing building and construct a new extension.  As part of the works existing areas of the building were also altered and extensively refurbished with the capacity of the Care Home reduced from 16 Bedrooms to 8 large Bedrooms with Ensuite facilities.  The building provides a specialist service supporting adults with learning disabilities and complex needs.  Other facilities within the building includes Lounge, Respite Lounge, Dining Room, Kitchen, Quiet Room as well as more utilitarian functions and staff facilities.

Due to the location of the building in a residential area and along a narrow lane with minimal space on site, the project presented a number of challenges during the design and construction phases.

Works began on site in June 2023 and completed in April 2024 only a few days later than the anticipated completion date.
