Farm Diversification Works – Seend

We recently secured Planning Permission as well as discharged the planning conditions in relation to the change of use of agricultural land to a camping site.

The approved development will provide four modest gravelled parking areas, toilet and washing-up facilities, four bell tents positioned on raised timber decking, and a designated grassed camping area capable of accommodating up to ten tents.

The application took over a year to determine due to a number of concerns raised during the planning process, primarily relating to the site’s access arrangements, as the country lane serving the site is relatively narrow, and the potential impact on local bat populations.

Throughout the application, we worked closely with the Local Planning Authority, providing additional supporting information and developing an appropriate ecological mitigation strategy. This included the planting of native trees and hedgerows to create a dedicated bat corridor, together with commissioning a qualified ecologist to undertake the necessary surveys. The ecological assessments concluded that the proposed development would have a minimal impact on bat populations, contrary to the Council’s concerns.

Although the planning process was lengthy, we would like to thank the case officer at the Council for their constructive engagement throughout the application and our client for instructing us. We look forward to seeing the site brought into use in the near future.
